Case 40

A very nice nurse practicioner hovers over your shoulder as you are reading out screening mammograms. She says she has a 14 year old with a breast lump. She is positive it is not just the breast bud, but a real lump.

  • What do you recommend?

      a. Diagnostic mammogram

      b. Ultrasound

      c. No imaging. Follow-up physical exam is recommended, since 14 year-olds just do not get breast cancer.
