2010 Fetal Medicine Foundation reaccreditation
Posted on Aug 16, 2010 Via Radiology-Meridian Pavilion is pleased to announce reaccreditation of our Ultrasound Department by the Fetal Medicine Foundation as a center for both fetal nuchal translucency (NT) screening as well as the more challenging fetal nasal bone (NB) screening. This accreditation is recognized by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine as the standard of care for maternal fetal medicine.
The accreditation process is a rigorous one, requiring participation in an annual audit program, statistical evaluation of fetal NT measurements, and quality control of images obtained by each sonographer.
Not all centers which perform early ultrasound screening are accredited to perform both NT and NB screening. When performed together in conjunction with blood tests, NT and NB screening provide the most accurate noninvasive prenatal screening test for Down Syndrome.
