Internet Capability

Centricity Web is a web-based system for examining medical images over an the Internet. A Centricity Web Server retrieves images from archives and other sources and provides them to the Centricity Web client in much the same way as a site on the Internet. Running inside the Internet Explorer browser, Centricity Web lets you find, display and manipulate virtually any medical image or patient study that may consist of an individual image or a series of digital images.

The computer requirements are as follows:

  • Broadband Internet connection - either DSL or Cable.
  • Windows 2000 or Windows XP.   Performance will vary on computers with other operating systems.
  • Internet Explorer 5.5 or 6.0.  Internet Explorer 6.0 is preferred.Internet Explorer 7.0, Mozilla and Firefox are not supported.
  • Minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768 and 24 bit (Truecolor) color depth if viewing images in Centricity Web.

Worklist View

To view multiple studies of a patient from different dates, enter the patient’s name and search.  You can pick the exams you wish to access by selecting them with the Ctrl-click.  Once opened, you have the ability to manipulate the images and perform comparison studies on the image view by splitting the screen and viewing the exams side by side.

Image View

Here are some shortcuts for some often used functions in the Image View, see the User Card or on-line Help for more in-depth explanation of the individual functionality of all of the icons :

  • Right mouse click, release, brings up the menu.
  • Right mouse hold will allow Window changes (brightness and contrast).
  • Right mouse double click in the thumbnail image will show the selected image enlarged in the viewport.
  • Depressing the Shift key, while Right mouse hold over an image in the Pictorial Index enlarges the thumbnails.
  • Left mouse hold will pan the image.
  • Middle mouse hold and move the mouse will zoom the image.
  • Left Mouse double click will enlarge the image in the viewport and hide the thumbnails.  Double click again, and the image in the viewport will return to the original size and show the thumbnails.
  • Use the mouse Scroll Wheel  to  scroll the images.
  • Middle mouse (scroll wheel) click and release will start the cine mode.
  • Middle Mouse hold and move the mouse will zoom image.
Window/Level preset icon  controls the window level of the image in the viewport.  This will change contrast of the image to better view bone or tissue. 
To divide viewing area into segments (multiple series):  Select the Series Area icon (on the left)    from the toolbar.  The drop box on the left will offer horizontal, vertical or multiple views.  The drop box on the right controls viewport layout.  Select desired view.  Select the first view box and double click on the series to be displayed.  Repeat for each view box/image to be displayed.  This permits you to view multiple images of one study, or compare images from the current exam with images from an older exam.
To enlarge a particular view, double click the image or select 1-up. (You can right click on the image, or use the icon   on the toolbar). You can also select the full screen icon in the upper right-hand corner, which will show you the full toolbar as well.
  To create a manual cine loop, right click with your cursor in the selected viewport, and select Cine – Manual.    To play the cine, scroll the wheel of your mouse to go forward or backward.    On the toolbar there are additional icons that will allow you to manipulate the cine loop forwards, backwards, pause, adjust speed, etc. automatically.
To measure, select image annotation: distance (or angle, or probe) icon  drop down box, and select probe, angle, distance, etc.  You can manipulate the measuring points using your cursor.  If the measurement indicators do not show, click on the icon  beside the image annotation icon.  This should make the measuring line(s) visible.
To go back to the original look of the image without recent changes select the Reset icon. 
Whenever you are viewing an image in a changed mode, such as Cine or Key Images , an icon appears in the upper left hand corner of the viewing screen to alert you.
Help is available by selecting the question mark  located in the upper right hand corner of the application.  The help screen does not go to the background or allow you to toggle between the application view and the help page, but you can move it to a part of the screen so that it does not obscure your view completely.
